Worship and Prayer
Daily chapel services are at the heart of life at NBCEA, providing students with a regular rhythm of corporate worship, Scripture reading, and prayer that anchors their theological studies in lived faith. These gatherings are not merely devotional exercises — they are formative encounters with God that shape the character and calling of every student.
Students are also encouraged to participate in personal and small-group prayer, drawing on the Wesleyan-holiness tradition's emphasis on entire sanctification and the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit. The chapel at the Rongai Center serves as a sacred space where the community gathers to seek God together, pray for the nations, and be renewed for ministry.
Fellowship
Community life at NBCEA is built on genuine fellowship — the kind that forms deep friendships, mutual accountability, and a shared sense of purpose. Students from across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, DRC, and Burundi come together to study, worship, and serve, creating a richly diverse community united by the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Regular fellowship activities — including shared meals, student gatherings, and community service projects — provide opportunities for students to build lasting relationships that will sustain them throughout their ministry careers. At NBCEA, we believe that the bonds formed in community are as important as the knowledge gained in the classroom.
Ministry Outreach
Practical ministry is woven into the fabric of the NBCEA experience. Students regularly engage in outreach activities within the surrounding Rongai community and beyond, putting their theological formation into practice through evangelism, church planting support, hospital visitation, and community development initiatives.
These outreach opportunities are not optional extras — they are integral to the NBCEA curriculum, ensuring that every graduate leaves with both the theological grounding and the practical experience needed to serve effectively in the Church of the Nazarene Africa East Field. Ministry outreach is where classroom learning becomes lived mission.
Accommodation
The NBCEA Rongai Center hostel provides comfortable on-campus accommodation for residential students, with capacity for between 1 and 12 people at a time. Living on campus places students at the centre of college life, enabling them to participate fully in chapel, fellowship, and ministry activities while benefiting from a safe and supportive community environment.
Prior booking is required for all accommodation requests, as hostel space is limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Students wishing to reside on campus should contact the admissions office well in advance of their program start date to secure their place.

Conferences and Events
NBCEA hosts a range of conferences, seminars, and special events throughout the academic year, bringing together students, faculty, church leaders, and ministry partners from across the Africa East Field. These gatherings enrich the academic community, expose students to broader theological conversations, and strengthen the college's connections with the wider Church of the Nazarene network.
The Rongai Center conference hall provides a well-equipped venue for these events, accommodating groups of varying sizes for workshops, revival meetings, graduation ceremonies, and district-level church gatherings. Students are encouraged to participate actively in these events as part of their holistic formation for ministry.
Community Engagement
NBCEA students are actively involved in local church ministry, partnering with congregations in the Rongai area and across the Nairobi region to support Sunday services, youth programs, and evangelistic outreach. This engagement is a vital expression of the college's missional identity, ensuring that students are not only formed in the classroom but are also contributing meaningfully to the life of the local church throughout their studies.
Beyond the local church, students participate in community outreach initiatives that address social needs in the surrounding area, including visiting the sick, supporting vulnerable families, and engaging in environmental stewardship projects. These activities reflect the Wesleyan-holiness conviction that love for God is inseparable from love for neighbour, and that the gospel calls believers to serve the whole person.
Student Support
NBCEA is committed to the holistic wellbeing of every student. Pastoral care is provided by faculty and staff who are available to walk alongside students through the challenges of academic life, personal difficulties, and the demands of ministry formation. Students are encouraged to seek support freely, knowing that the college community is a place of grace, confidentiality, and genuine care.
Academic support services are also available to help students succeed in their studies. These include tutoring assistance, library resources, and guidance from lecturers during office hours. NBCEA recognises that students come from diverse educational backgrounds, and the college is committed to providing the support needed for every student to reach their full academic and ministry potential.
Spiritual Formation
Spiritual formation is at the core of the NBCEA experience. Rooted in the Wesleyan-holiness tradition, the college's approach to formation emphasises the transforming work of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer — from initial repentance and justification through to entire sanctification and a life of Christlike love. Every aspect of college life, from chapel to classroom to community, is designed to facilitate this ongoing journey of grace.
Discipleship programs at NBCEA provide structured opportunities for students to grow in their faith through mentorship, accountability groups, Scripture memorisation, and spiritual direction. Students are paired with experienced ministry leaders who invest in their personal and spiritual development, equipping them not only with theological knowledge but with the depth of character required for faithful, long-term ministry in the Africa East Field.
