Admissions Overview
NBCEA welcomes applications from men and women who sense a calling to Christian ministry and are committed to theological formation within the Wesleyan-holiness tradition. Our admissions process is designed to identify candidates who demonstrate both the academic readiness and the spiritual maturity needed to benefit fully from our programs and to serve effectively in the Church of the Nazarene Africa East Field.
We believe that theological education is a partnership between the student, the college, and the local church. Accordingly, all applicants are required to have the endorsement of their local pastor or church leader, and we encourage prospective students to discuss their application with their congregation before applying. Our admissions team is available to answer questions and guide applicants through every step of the process.
Application Process
Follow these steps to complete your application to NBCEA.
Obtain an Application Form
Contact the NBCEA admissions office by phone or email to request an application form.
Gather Required Documents
Collect all required supporting documents, including academic certificates, a church recommendation letter, a passport-size photograph, and a copy of your national ID.
Submit Your Application
Return the completed application form together with all required documents to the admissions office by email or post. Ensure all documents are certified copies where applicable.
Attend the Admissions Interview
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend an online admissions interview via Zoom or Google Meet. The interview assesses academic readiness, spiritual commitment, and suitability for the chosen program.
Receive Your Admission Letter
Successful applicants will receive an official admission letter from NBCEA. The letter will include details of the program start date, fees, and any conditions of admission.
Complete Enrolment
Confirm your place by paying the required registration fee and completing the enrolment process before the stated deadline. You will then receive access to the online learning platform.
Required Documents
All applications must include the following documents. Incomplete applications will not be processed.
- Completed NBCEA application form
- Certified copies of academic certificates (KCSE, KCPE, or equivalent)
- Two recent passport-size photographs
- Church recommendation letter from your pastor or district superintendent
- Copy of national identity card or passport
- Birth certificate or proof of age (optional)
- Any previous theological or ministry training certificates (optional)

Accommodation
The NBCEA Rongai Center hostel provides on-campus accommodation for residential students. The hostel can accommodate between 1 and 12 students at a time, offering a safe and supportive living environment within the college community. Rooms are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, and availability is not guaranteed.
Prior booking is required for all accommodation requests. Students wishing to reside on campus must contact the admissions office to arrange accommodation before their program start date. Accommodation fees are charged separately from tuition and are payable in advance each term.

When does the academic year begin?
The NBCEA academic year typically begins in January. A mid-year intake may also be available for the Certificate in Christian Ministry program. Contact the admissions office for the current intake schedule.
Can I apply if I am not a member of the Church of the Nazarene?
NBCEA primarily serves students within the Church of the Nazarene Africa East Field. However, applicants from other Wesleyan-holiness denominations may be considered. A letter of recommendation from your church leader is required for all applicants.
Are classes held online?
Yes. All NBCEA classes are conducted online via Zoom and Google Meet. This allows students from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and across the Africa East Field to study without relocating. You will need a stable internet connection and a device capable of joining video calls.
Are there part-time or flexible study options?
Yes. Through the Africa Nazarene School of Extension (ANSE), NBCEA offers flexible study options for working ministers and church leaders. Contact the admissions office for details on ANSE enrollment.
What financial assistance is available?
NBCEA works with the Church of the Nazarene Africa East Field to identify scholarship and bursary opportunities for students in financial need. Applicants are encouraged to discuss their circumstances with the admissions office during the application process.
How long does the admissions process take?
From submission of a complete application to receipt of an admission letter typically takes two to four weeks, depending on the volume of applications and the scheduling of interviews. Incomplete applications will delay the process.
Can I transfer credits from another theological institution?
Credit transfer requests are assessed on a case-by-case basis by the Academic Dean. Applicants wishing to apply for credit transfer should submit their previous transcripts and course outlines along with their application.
